Trip Review for China

Chongqing

With over 3000 years in history and local culture, Chongqing is the youngest municipality of China. The new Chongqing City prepares to embrace the rest of the world. Chongqing is one of the four Chinese cities identified on the world map at the UN General Assembly Hall. As one of the PRC’s four direct-controlled municipalities (the other three are Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin), and the only such municipality in inland China, Chongqing is one of the five national central cities of China. Chongqing is famous for the towering mountains and roaring rivers, which have witnessed the local civilization of over 3000 years.

Chongqing has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, and for most of the year experiences very humid conditions. With over 100 days of fog per year,it is also known as the “Fog City” , and a thick layer of fog shrouds it for 68 days per year during the spring and autumn.

As the largest city of China, Chongqing covers an area of 82,400 sq kilometers with a population of 30 million. There are many famous spots in the city, including the Beiwenquan, Nanwenquan, the Longevity Lake and other places. During the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang moved from Nanjing to Chongqing and made it a war-time capital, which results in many commemorative sites such as the Red Crag Village, the Chongqing Office of the Eighth Route Army, and so on. But to enjoy the dim shadows of the boats and steamers will be most attractive. Meanwhile, Chongqing is also the starting point for a cruise on the Yangtze River with many historical and scenic spots along its bank.

Chongqing is one of the most notable cities for history and culture in China. It was an ancient military fort and now the hub connecting China’s vast west and eastern coast as well as the rest of the world. It was China’s ancient regional trade center and now the economic center of the upper Yangtze. It was a town specialized in entrepot trade and now the largest industrial & commercial city of the region. It was a port city based in the Sichuan Basin and now a municipality opened to the whole world. It also maintains its regional importance in defense, politics, trade, and logistics for long; its glories and growth marked the history of China. In the recent 100 years, Chongqing was first the commercial and trade center of the region, then the wartime capital of then China and now on the path for greater prospect.

Welcome to Chongqing, a vigorous and vibrant city, irresistibly attractive and charming!
